Quit smoking

The health implications of smoking tobacco can be perpetuated due to smoking illicit substances and drinking above the recommended guidance of alcohol.

North Yorkshire Horizons is strongly committed to promoting smokefree activity in our workplaces and communities. Our staff are trained to deliver evidence based brief advice and work collaboratively with Living Well Smokefree to support people to stop smoking.

We work with Living Well Smokefree.

Living Well Smokefree is a team of advisors who have plenty of experience in helping people to stop smoking. We see anyone from the age of 12 upwards, who live, work or are registered with a GP in North Yorkshire.  We have community based locations across North Yorkshire and can arrange home visits for people who have mobility issues.

Living Well Smokefree offers personalised, one-to-one support over 6 to 12 weeks including:

  • access to a dedicated stop smoking advisor
  • a supply of either Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) or Champix
  • local weekly one-to-one behavioural support.

We are an e-cigarette friendly service and can provide behavioural support to go alongside the use of an e-cigarette throughout a quit attempt, but currently we cannot provide the device and refills themselves.

We know that people who use this combination of support are three times more likely to quit for good.

We accept self-referrals using the contact details below or a member of staff from North Yorkshire Horizons can refer you into Living Well Smokefree on your behalf.
