Once you have finished treatment, it’s easy to forget everything you’ve learned and resort to old coping strategies. This is why aftercare is vital!
By attending aftercare sessions or groups, you will continue to develop and build on your Recovery.
There are lots of different options in your community, such as:
- SMART Groups
- Community Hubs
- Breakfast Clubs
- Recovery Cafés
- Health and Well-being
- Recovery Check in/out
- Therapeutic Groups
- Walking/Running Groups
You can ask you worker about groups in your area.

The Building Recovery in the Community Fund
If you have an idea for a recovery community group or activity that you would like to run, or if you already run activities across North Yorkshire that you would like to open up to the recovery community, then we’d love to hear from you.
The Building Recovery in the Community Fund provides small grants, up to £500, for activities which help develop and support ‘Recovery in the Community’ in North Yorkshire.
FAQs about The Building Recovery in the Community Fund
How much can I apply for?
You can apply for up to £1000.
What is ‘the recovery community’?
The project must benefit citizens of North Yorkshire who are affected by or recovering from substance addictions. Activities should be open to anyone in recovery (and their support network if appropriate) and be intended to develop a group or community which helps sustain recovery.
Who can apply?
Individuals or groups can apply. Your group can be formal (constituted, with a bank account) or informal (un-constituted with no group bank account).
When will we receive the funds?
It may take up to 4 weeks for us to process your application. If successful:
- For un-constituted groups and individuals, the grant will be paid on receipt of invoices for the activities (direct from the supplier if necessary) and/or expense claims with receipts. We will discuss this with you if successful.
- For constituted groups with a bank account in the group’s name, the grant will be paid into the bank account and groups will be expected to keep a detailed record of all expenditure. If successful we will ask you to invoice us for the amount agreed.
