NYH is looking to bag a share of the spoils as part of the Tesco Bags of Help initiative

Local shoppers are being encouraged to support North Yorkshire Horizons win a cash award worth up to £4,000.

Thanks to the Tesco Bags of Help initiative, three groups from the region have been shortlisted to receive grants of £4,000, £2,000 and £1,000 for community projects.

Customers at the Tesco superstore in Scarborough, along with the two Tesco Express stores on Burniston Road and Scarborough Castle, will be invited to vote for their chosen charity by placing tokens in their chosen charities box. The charity with the most tokens at the end of the voting period will be awarded £4,000.

Tracy Mikkelsen Edwards, Service Manager at North Yorkshire Horizons, said: “It’s incredibly easy to participate, and with your vote, North Yorkshire Horizons can support clients to maintain the positive changes they have made and rebuild their skills and confidence in a friendly, supportive environment.

“Importantly, we can develop the Community groups in rural areas and help those often marginalised individuals to reintegrate back into society.”.

Voting is open in November and December and customers can cast their vote using the token given to them every time they shop.
