The North Yorkshire alcohol and drug service North Yorkshire Horizons is running a campaign to encourage safer drinking at Christmas.
North Yorkshire Horizons are distributing their Tips for Safer Seasonal Drinking leaflet from their five hubs across the county. The advice is also online at www.nyhorizons.org.uk
Mark Vidgen, Assistant Director of North Yorkshire Horizons said: “Christmas is a time for celebration and enjoyment but sometimes that can get out of hand. People may go too far and end up getting hurt themselves or hurting other people”.
Mark continued: “We’re offering some advice to help people look after themselves. That ranges from being careful about how you drink to making sure you and your friends get home safely at the end of the night.
“Of course, we want people to enjoy themselves and not have cause to regret anything they have done over the Christmas period”.
The campaign runs alongside advice designed to help people deal with their emotional and mental wellbeing over the Christmas period. This side of the campaign helps people to tackle the feelings of loneliness, depression as well as the pressures that can accompany the festive season.
North Yorkshire Horizons will be sharing messages of advice on social media under the hashtag #KeepCalmatChristmas in December as well as providing handouts with information and advice along with contact telephone numbers for additional support.
